Is there an equivalent of File Downloads module?

Hi,

Have started exploring D7 with Drupal Commerce only a few days back. I tried to search for it, but could not locate anything relevant.

Is there an equivalen of File Downloads module from ubercart in Drupal Commerce? I am looking for an electronic files selling solution. Or is there a way to achieve it with rules etc. Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Regards
Jaya

Hey Jaya, actually there is a work in progress file download system working through the core File field. We'll be sure to post it to d.o when it's ready for testing / use. : )

Great to know. Eagerly waiting for this.

Hey Ryan, just wondering if you have a guess when this might get included? Do you think its like March/April or more like May/June?

Damn, its hard to ask that without sounding ungrateful, which is actually quite opposite of how I (and many others) feel. I only ask because we're starting to develop our site and selling file downloads will be our primary product.

lol You don't sound ungrateful. ; )

And fortunately for both of us, it's the March / April, most likely March. We're launching a client site using it soon, and I just need to review our developer's work and get it up on d.o.

Awesome, that's great news!

Full steam ahead with Drupal Commerce for us!

Thanks again.

We are also developing some new sites with Drupal 7 and Drupal Commerce and very interested in the file download.
We have already played around with creating a new Product Type 'Music' and adding a file field using the file WIDGET.
We were able to add to cart and check out except we did not add any hooks/code to say "show the file download link after purchase". We are still wandering the best way to go about this.

I understand that using the core File API will be best, however will it

  • Automatically present a download link to the Customer after successful checkout?
  • Show a history of purchased files with the orders?
  • Have a download expiry after the date of purchase?
  • Offer a preview button of the file?

We would be happy to offer feedback on the module. Looking forward to its release on Drupal Org.

As far as i could tell no existing module (ACL, Content Acess, FlexiAcess) is working with either products or media. Is there a sneak peak into how you are planning to restrict Access to the original Files (and grant access via Rules) I suspect this will involve http://drupal.org/project/efq_views ? where will one find the dev-version once it is done ? (apart from here now that i subscribed )...

cheers for the awsome distro!

Hi Ryan,

Any news on this?
Could you perhaps put it in a sandbox project if it's not finalized yet?
Maybe I / we could give a helping hand to get it more polished?

Thanks for your hard work!

As Brad said, it feels very ungrateful, but! Has there been any further progress made on this yet? This is definitely an integral module for me, and I would love to help but I am not much of a developer :(
