Different Payment Gateways for Different Products?

I would like to utilize different payment gateways for different products that were in a single checkout.

Part of the money would go one place, and part to another, two charges on the user's credit card, from a single checkout.

Is this currently implemented?

If not, how would you recommend I go about doing this, in broad strokes (it's okay to speak Drupal-ese, I'm a developer)?

Finally, would this be a useful module to contribute back to the community, and is anybody working on anything like this currently, or to ask directly, would anybody like to collaborate?

It's for a nonprofit project for ding community supported agriculture through faith institutions.

I am about to start looking for a way to implement multiple instances of the same gateway with different accounts and we would also need to be able to determine which gateways (payment methods) could be used for each product or a product type. I have not looked to far into it yet but if it cannot be done right now I am sure w cannot be the only ones in the community with an interest.

I have tested and have been able to setup using commerce/config/payment-methods/manage both duplicates of a payment processor and rules for when to use them.

I did not test that the orders went through correctly.

We are a non-profit as well and need this feature.

We'll develop this in the next several months and would love to collaborate and contribute the result back to the community. Please let me know if there's any interest.
