General Setup Question

I am new to Drupal however I do have a background in programming with C++ so the concepts are very familiar.
I am trying to setup a basic online catalog with Drupal Commerce. My customer currently just wants to show the products available but not be able to order anything online at this time. The online store part will be added at a later time.
I am trying to find a way to just display the product description and picture. How do I remove the add to cart button from each product?

I chose to use Drupal commerce because my customer will eventually set up the online ordering process. Am I approaching this the wrong way by using Drupal commerce?
Thanks
Gary

I believe all you would to do is put your 'product reference' field in the content types 'manage display' to hidden. This will remove the entire add to cart form. The only drawback would be you wouldn't be able to select product variations with any list field you made in the product type. I haven't tried to do this specifically, but I would try the commerce product options module to make any variation selectable.
