why has the checkout button disappeared?

added a new variation but now cant check out,

scratching my head and i have tried to line up all the stats from the demo store

I'm not getting an add to cart form on that page, but I can get to the checkout from the link at the top of the page.

Is there any chance you disabled the 'Add to cart' form? You can check at
admin/structure/types then 'Manage Display' for your product type. You should have a field named 'Product variations' with a Format of 'Add to Cart Form'.
