why don't the form come up when I add a product

Here is what I did:

1. cleared all data from demo store via configure Reset
2. created some taxonomy vocabularies and terms so I can build my products for add products
3. created a product type and added term reference / select

Now when I go to products / add product I see nothing, no place at all to enter data. what did I miss or do wrong?

It worked ok when I had the demo store stuff installed.

I've read over all this nice help, and watch videos but I'm going in circles.

Thank you

It's confusing, I agree. It seems that there has to be the one display available to act as a base for new products to be added. In the basic sample store, it's called "Product display." In the full sample store, there is nothing called "Product display," but there are many product displays (Hats, Bags, etc.) but no way of knowing how to create them.

I managed to create a new product display once somehow, but couldn't remember how I did it! The confusion is compounded by the fact that Product types are a type of Content types.

The difference is explained in the documentation, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get the Add a product screen to display the common fields I want with the variations revealed beneath. I know it's something to do with the various Content and Product type fields, but it isn't clear to me as to how to make this work.

I think that the bottom line is that Drupal Commerce 2.0-rc1 is still very much a candidate release that needs work to make it useable for ordinary human users who aren't Drupal developers. Oh well, the bleeding edge....

These comments should keep in mind that what you're talking about is not Drupal Commerce, it is Commerce Kickstart. This is a distribution that wraps features around the base functionality of Drupal Commerce, so questions and answers should take that into consideration. You should also ensure you're referring to the correct documentation.

Yes I still find things confusing Drupal Commerce 2.0-rc1 product types and catagories. I've read the documentation, but still having a time wrapping my head around this. I don't have any suggestions on how this could be made more understandible.

Thanks. I will be sure and be more percise. I wonder if going back to just drupalcommerce and trying that might be a bit easier to learn. it is nice to see sample products with kickstart, but maybe that is overwelming me.
