VOD (Video on demand) shop with drupal commerce?

I would like to create a niche netflix (an ecommerce site that's selling videostreams).
- the user can browse the catalog and watch trailers and images of the video on the product page
- if the user choses to see a complete video, he can either chose an ad supported version (with advertising breaks), or an ad free pay per view version
- ad supported version is freely available on product page without registration, a click on a button starts the video
- for paid version he needs to perform a transaction - buy the videostream
- he logs in, confirms or walks through the whole order process (paypal, CC)
- after the transaction he can view the video stream

Later, I would like to add a subscription based pricing: a user who pays a monthly fee can view all videos available on the site. I watched a screencast about recurring payments, so for sure this would need to be a partner thing.

But before I dive deeper into the topic - is drupalcommerce a fit for this scenario?

A quick answer for "Can Drupal Commerce do X?" is this: "If Drupal can do X then Commerce can sell it." So the question you are asking is can Drupal protect content and offer streaming content. The answer is yes.
