Uploading file with order in Commerce

I am having some issues finding a suitable method to allow customers on a printing website upload files with their orders.

I have created a file upload field on the product line item but even when this field is mandatory the file will not upload when the add to cart button is clicked. This would be confusing for customers as they would need to click upload of the file, wait for it to upload and then click add to cart.

Is there a better way to do this? For instance would it be possible for the customer to have the option to upload files once the payment has been paid for through the payment gateway, which in this case is an external gateway.

Hopefully someone can help me out here as I am stuck for options.

I sent an answer to you in the forums as well. But your question here makes a bit more sense.

If you do indeed want to enable "uploads" after purchasing ... there's a great new module that does just this :)

It's called "Commerce License Node" and it allows users to purchase the ability to create X amount of nodes. Which means all you would have to do is set this up, make a product for selling a poster print and then create a "poster" node ... once the user has purchased the ability to create a poster, they can only create the amount of posters they purchased.

It's a bit abstract, but I think that could be a very powerful way to use the above module.

Best of luck!

Hi Josh,

So would the poster node have some sort of upload field?

When you say create X amount of nodes, that would be ideal that they would then have the option to create a node which would be a file upload.

But when I have watched the video on this module it seems that it would only grant access to a premade node. Is this is case or am I missing something?
