Remove Price field (not just hide it in display)

Hi,

I'm working on a business-to-business commerce site where I won't be needing a price field for the majority of product types. I'll have to use other aspects of Commerce though, so it's not just a product catalog site.

How can I remove the Price field from the Product types? The price field is locked, if I manage to unlock it somehow, will there be any repercussions?

I believe this is required. Could you use a Content Type instead? I tried removing it just for some variations using Dependencies but failed. I had some products (bulk variations on products) that I wanted to be able to filter and select, but then use "call for price" and hide the "add to cart" and hide the "price" fields. I was unable. Again, If you could just use a Content Type instead it may help.
