Limit cart to one line-item (Article)?

I am working on a store and I need to limit the cart to just one article that can be purchased, as for different articles are needed different orders for further (manual) processing.
The quantity of this article can be set by the customer.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Use your own custom rule for that.
If you don't know about rules check this:

There's a discussion related to what you want to achieve here:

That is slightly different to what you want but you can use it as starting point.
