I need to sell mp3 singles and also grouped into albums. what is the best way to go about it?

Brand new newbie has to figure out how to build a site that sell's mp3's one at a time or as an Album, just like iTunes does. i also need to associate an artist page with each Album or single. Can someone advise on how to go about?

i'm going thru tutorials as fast and furiously as possible!, but would appreciate some feedback here. Clock is ticking!, thanks!

Without knowing your implementation, off the top of my head, I'd say:

Product display node for the album. The songs would be the individual SKU products, with any song specific fields. For the artists, I'd say they become taxonomy terms, allowing you to easily tie them to the songs and albums.

I think that's the general approach I'd think of first.

belated thanks, makes sense except for selling the entire CD. not sure how that would work
am still trying to determine how to create an mp3 product, audition it and then download

Are you asking literally how to create the product, through the UI?

No, i know how to do that.

Rather how to handle single mp3's and then entire albums,

right now im trying to get the dang mp3 player to launch!, am getting errors ...

i see. You want to figure out how to add all the songs for the album into the cart, and perhaps at a discount if it is the whole album, correct?

You are allowing the customer to play the MP3 from the cart, I imagine from an audio player, if they purchased the album, right?

I'm just trying to nail down the exact parameters of what you are trying to do so I can help you through it.

wow, thanks for your help.
basically yes to everything you said. when they purchase, either CD or single mp3, it is available for them to download.

as far as listening goes, i want to set so user can audition or sample each track from the product page.

i think this is a pretty standard way to operate an mp3 store. i think this is how iTunes functions

i am struggling quite a bit now to get a default mp3 player to load but that is a different issue ;-)
