I cannot find the Add Product Type page anywhere, help!

I've gone thru some tutorials to try and find where & how to create product types but on my install of DrupalCommerce it just doesn't seem to be there.

I believe it is suppose to be Store->Products and then on the RH side tab.

I went to modules to check if Product UI was enabled and it is.

Can someone clue me in what might be wrong?

big thanks

If you go to
node/add/add-product
can you add products?

If that doesn't work then try node/add and see if there is another tab you can select for products if they don't appear in that list.

If you're on Commerce Kickstart then it should in Products -> Add a Product

yes i can add products, but not create a new product type. that's the problem.

cannot properly populate the store without being able to do that.

was going to upload a screensnap just to show but guess that is not an option

thanks for answering my post

Ahh, sorry misread your question. You can post links to images on this forum but not embed them.

So what happens when you visit
admin/commerce/config/product-variation-types
?

Cheers.

ok i will do that. thank you.

i think part of the problem might be this tutorial I'm doing is not like the version of DrupalCommerce i have, which is the latest. i'm reading the User Guide now, and it's very different from the tutorial.

If i'm selling DVD's and also selling mp3's, should DVD's be a product variation type, and then mp3's be another product variation type?, and then T-shirts be yet another product variation type?

Only create product types if you really have to - there's an overhead to managing them.

You may well need to create 3 types if you want to have searchable/sortable fields for each of product type.

T-shirts will need sizes, colours & possibly more but you could still create those and use just the one product type if you don't need to be able to search by director, band, album, track title etc for the MP3s and DVDs.
If you do need to be able to use those things as 'search facets' or to manage their display beyond what the body field gives you then go ahead and create a type for MP3s, one for DVDs and one for t-shirts.

And yes, there are a few old tutorials out there.

thanks but look, even here on this site,...

http://www.drupalcommerce.org/user-guide/product-attributes-variations

scroll down to 'Example attribute configuration'

in the pic, there is Store->Products, and on the RH side nav is 'List' and 'Product Types'

on my site that is not what i get. instead i get 'All product Variations'

i have been going in circles all day w/ this. i absolutely cannot follow along any of these tutorials!

It's difficult to advise you when you don't answer questions. But, if you're on Kickstart, then I'd stick with version 2 - it's where all the development is.

Ok, sorry.

Yes I'm using KickStart.

well i uninstalled so i can't tell now what exactly was there.

but to reiterate,

when i went to admin/store/products, on the RH side the menu tabs were List & All Product Variations

and not List & Product Types.

i looked all over for +Add Product Type but couldn't find anywhere.
