I want to use an alternative version of a module to the one which is shipped with Commerce Kickstart.

If I install to sites/all/modules - will this override the version found at profiles/commerce_kickstart/modules/contrib ???

The module in question is Taxonomu Menu and guess this is general question which would apply to all distributions, not just Commerce Kickstart.
