Hi totally new to commerce and pretty new to drupal I hope someone can shed some light on this problem.
Is there a way that I can add a check button or some other method to enable the billing address to be copied to the shipping address when customers go through the checkout process?
Hope someone can help I would be very grateful.

I think this was added into drupal commerce but maybe only the dev version. Here is the patch I used.
Also to make it the default option I used this patch.

It explains that this function is in commerce core now. Go to Store>Config>Checkout setting> billing config scroll down and it has a check box for you to specify if the shipping is the same as billing and vice versa.

I found it. Just do this:
To enable the 'My Shipping information is the same as my Billing information. option on the customer profile page in the checkout process, go to 'Store settings'; 'Checkout settings'; and edit 'Shipping information' and check the following:
'Enable profile copying on this checkout pane, helping customers avoid having to enter the same address twice.'
