Deleting Demo Store Categories and Product Types

I installed Commerce Kickstart with the demo store products. I would like to delete the demo store categories and product types now, but cannot find how to delete them. Do I have to start all over and reinstall the whole dang thing without the demo store products?

Yes.

Demo store product types, content types and categories are not deletable (due to the way how the Features module works), which is why the demo store can't be used for new projects (which is something we say quite clearly on the project page)

Actually, I found a way to delete all the items from the demo store. The catch was in deleting the orders before I could delete the things that were claiming dependency. Go to orders and delete all your orders before you try deleting the other things that they are dependent on.

I must have missed this and don't see the inability to delete store content anywhere now that I'm looking. This sounds just the opposite. (~2/3 down the page)

STORE CONTENT
You’re so close to having a complete Commerce Kickstart installation! All that is left is to determine whether you want to install the example store content. This is an easy decision, if you’re not sure, let’s go ahead and install it. We’ve made it easy to step back and “uninstall” that content as well.

Sadly, I'm 70% finished with a site and have been using the samples as references. Now I think I'm hosed, right? I either live with the extra content types, etc. or I start from scratch. Is there a way for me to export only things I've added from the database?

This is really bad. I've already nearly finish the project then see this... Could not understand why not allowed delete the demo. Should not be very hard.

If i'm not mistaken you can just turn of the Commerce kickstart product feature and delete all Demo stuff.

This is just not right.

It might take a little, until you understand how it works.

First you should install the kickstart with demo store, to learn how the things work together.

Commerce hooks directly into the drupal system.

You may not able to delete everything, but you can modify existing, and add new ones.

Commerce is not a click and go shoping software.

Kickstart shows concepts and gives you a direction of how to implement commerce for your needs.

It is possible to easily remove the demo store content (Drupal Commerce v1.6)

Simply navigate to

http://yourstore/#overlay=admin/commerce/config/demo

or

http://yourstore/admin/commerce/config/demo

This should delete all the demo store content.

Anyone tried this? I did something early on that seemed right (I thought it was this) and ALL my content vanished, but not all the Demo content.

uhmmm...that link removes the complete store and reinstalls kickstart from scratch automatically...so every content type you created extra, every setting....gone!

Ok... well as we can't remove content types through admin page directly, it's possible when the admin module is set (not the commerceguys admin menu)... o_0'
I tried to remove "hats" just to see and... that'it no more hats content type.
But I don't know what happens behind the scene.... is it so bad to do it that way?
I don't want bad practices but If I can avoid aving both installed (local with demo and live without) could be nice -> noob point of view ;-)

Did anyone figure out a way to do this yet? I'm astounded that the Commerce guys are saying "Sorry, you missed the fine print that you can't actually delete the demo content, guess you're starting your whole project over!" This honestly puts you somewhere in the realm of being bad humans. How do I explain to my client why there are Bags & Cases categories? I really have to start the site from scratch? Are you people listening to yourselves??

drush dis commerce_kickstart_product -y
drush vset commerce_kickstart_demo_store 0
drush en commerce_kickstart_lite_product -y

Allowed me to delete the demo product types (YMMV). Also, not sure if it will be regenerated by Features or something later.
