Product referece field length more than 2048 signs?

After setting up complex Product and bulk product generation, there are over 11000 variations that were automatically added to "Product reference field" in "Product display" content type. When I save the product display I get an error that the field can only have 2048 signs. My actual sign count is over 24 000. Is this possible to extend the product reference field max length?

Simply turn the field formatter from "autocomplete text widget" to "do not show a widget" and set the value programmatically.
