Edit Attributes List

Maybe I did not find the short-cut, but editing a attributes list seems quite complicated. I.e just to add a new color:

Store › Products › Product types › Produkt › Manage fields › Color › Field settings

I do not want anybody fiddling around in the other field setting just when a new color is needed. Isn´t there any quicker and more secure way?

Would modifying the attributes list through a taxonomy work for you? Content creators would just add the new color to the vocabulary and then it would be selectable for individual products.
