Gourmetbox is a company offering event catering and high level gourmet food to order. Responsible for concept, design and implementation, Nothing Interactive (https://www.nothing.ch/en) developed the new online presence of the company which combines website and web shop.

The fully responsive web shop allows for a highly flexible ordering process. It abandons the typical shopping cart and is instead based on the experience of ordering a meal at a restaurant. Thanks to the seamless combination of website and web shop, users may switch at will between ordering process and background stories about the food and the company, making for an engaging shopping experience.

The new web presence of Gourmetbox went live in November 2014.

Custom Pricing, Taxes, Checkout, or Shipping Rules
To transform the shopping process into the experience of ordering a meal, we implemented many changes to the front end of the store.

One of our major changes was the inclusion of AngularJS to handle the layout and customization process of an order. It not only allowed us to display the products like a restaurant menu but also enabled us to offer a front end which feels fast and responsive even on mobile devices, as we can update values with almost zero Ajax calls.

Our client's accounting procedure required the website to be connected with an existing ERP application, where the orders were processed. Drupal's Web service client (https://www.drupal.org/project/wsclient) enabled us connect to the API of the ERP in an easy way, so that we could focus on converting the data from Commerce into the ERP API format.
