The Drupal 7 Commerce Initiative is the coordinated effort of various individuals and companies in the Drupal community to plan the future of open source e-commerce on Drupal 7 and beyond. This page introduces you to a few of the roles and names behind the initiative and how they're helping make the vision a reality.
There is plenty of room for more people to get involved. If you or your company / organization are interested in taking ownership in the specification or development, please use the contact form so we can get you plugged in!
Project Roles
The roles are outlined in detail below, including the various individuals fulfilling them at the moment. The important thing to realize is that we're going for as much of a democratized process as possible, with as many competent, interested people contributing to the documentation and specifications on this site as possible. The sole exception is commit access to the main repository is currently channeled solely through the Project Lead until the project matures and we appoint system and/or branch maintainers. However, the Project Lead will follow the normal development process himself.
Project Lead
Drupal Commerce is coordinated by Ryan, the project lead of Ubercart from its inception through Drupal 6. He works with the editors to develop and maintain the documentation and development standards. He contributes code using the same process as any other core developers and makes the final commits to the source code repository as the current maintainer. Feel free to contact Ryan to know how you can get more involved in the project!
Editors
Editors here function as subject matter experts and co-maintainers of the documents produced by the initiative. They are generally long term contributors to the Ubercart project or experienced with general e-commerce development with or without Drupal. The editors are tasked with distilling the community's ideas and information down into workable specifications and strategies.
The current editors are listed below in alphabetical order with any pertinent info regarding their subject matter expertise or editorial oversight.
Supporting Companies
The following companies are devoting time and resources to make the initiative a success. They bring to the table a considerable amount of Drupal and Ubercart expertise, including a wealth of real-world experience implementing Ubercart for clients of many shapes and sizes. They are listed here in alphabetical order.
